You won't find a musical environment more casual than the one Jerrod Niemann put together to work on his new studio album, 'High Noon.' The 'Drink to That All Night' singer tells Taste of Country Nights how tailgating activities played an important role in the writing process.

“Basically, I created most of this album while playing corn hole and cooking on the Big Green Egg,” he says. “I sort of wrote this album and found songs around that atmosphere.”

Niemann and his collaborators would start working on a song in his writing room. If they'd hit a wall, they'd go play some corn hole and begin again later. If they hit another wall, they'd go cook something on the grill.

“Before you know it, you have a song. The next thing you know, you have an album,” the singer shares.

The Kansas native wrote or co-wrote eight of the 13 tracks on 'High Noon,' which is in stores and at digital retailers now. 'Drink to That All Night' was one he didn't write.

“My buddy, he said, ‘I don’t know if you’ll like it or not.’ So I saw the title … and thought ‘That’s not really original,’" Niemann recalls. "Then I heard the song and thought, ‘Whoa! That’s actually really original.’ So it pumped me up and put me in the party mood.”

Niemann's hope is that this album is the one everyone turns to for their summer tailgate, pool party or road trip -- that's the vibe he wants to give fans. He's hoping to inspire others to throw around a few bean bags and fire up the barbecue.

Sam Alex is the host of Taste of Country Nights radio, a syndicated night show which airs on more than 50 Townsquare Media Group stations nationwide.
