Jared Blake From Blake Shelton’s Team Prepares for Live Rounds on NBC’s ‘The Voice’ [AUDIO]

Twitter

The judges have spoken and now it’s your turn.  The battle rounds are over on NBC’s “The Voice,” and we move into the live rounds where the public gets to vote.  Jared Blake from Blake Shelton’s team is ready to “do something a little more like him.”  Shelton choose “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough” for Jared during the battle rounds, which he killed, but said “was a strange song choice.”  For the live round song choice he wants “to see what my options are, because at the end of the day it’s gotta be something that I think is a great song and I think I can put my heart and soul into.”

Jared isn’t quite sure how the live rounds will work because “they like to keep us in the dark, just to keep us guessing.”  But from what he hears, “per team America is voting for one and the judges get to keep one, so each team will be cut from 4 people to 2.”  Then he believes “it’ll be up to America from then on out.”  The show airs at 9 tonight on NBC.

Jared is adjusting to his new found stardom.  He’s constantly being recognized and most people will come up and talk to him but he’s also getting “weird little nods, as people walk by.”  The first few times it happened he thought “do I know that guy.”  Jared just finds the whole “fame” thing “bizarre, because we’re still the same people.  All that happened was we got on the show.”

And with the good, comes the bad.  Jared got actaste of negative feedback after our first interview.  A website picked up our story and posted it on their site which he discovered on his Twitter page.  Jared says “I just got eat up by all kinds of negative people on there.”  But he realizes “people are gonna love ya, or people are gonna hate ya and all you can do, is what you do.”  His fans are what’s kept his spirits up.  He says  “the fans really pull you through those times because you’re not use to being a target for the public to hate on.  If there hadn’t been so many great comments, and people reaching out and letting me know what my music means to them, you’d take the negative comments different.”

His bald head, tattoos and piercings may work to his benefit.  It’ll definately make him stand out among the other 15 contestants.  Jokingly he says “I grew hair and I removed the tattoos because I thought I was sticking out to much.”

The Voice is on NBC tonight at 9, unless you live in the Syracuse area.   The local NBC affiliate will be running the Red Sox and Yankees baseball game.  The show will rebroadcast Saturday on the CW6.  Tune in to see what Jared sings and if he makes it through to the next round.
