Production is underway this week in the Capital District for James Franco's new movie.  Troy, New York has closed off First Street in the city as it is transformed to a 1970's look for the filming of "The Pretenders."

The actor has been spotted in Albany, Schenectady, and some other locations over the past few weeks.  The Times Union reported that Franco was also seen having lunch at an Albany restaurant on Sunday.

Much of the filming of "The Pretenders" is expected to take place on the campus of Russell Sage College.  Another possible location is Green Island across the Hudson River.

Last month, the Times Union reported that casting for extras for the movie was taking place, and producers were looking for joggers, bar patrons, college  students of the 1970's and fancy restaurant patrons.  Little other information has been released about the movie.
