It Came Down to James or Scotty Going Home on Idol

Shocked.  That’s the only word I have for what happened on ‘American Idol.’  Lauren Alaina was first to learn she was in the final 3.  Then it was Haley Reinhart moving on, leaving Scotty McCreery and James Durbin.

Over 72 million votes were cast this week, making it the highest top-four vote ever in the history of the show.

Unfortunately, even record-breaking numbers weren’t enough to save James.  The rocker was sent packing, marking yet another surprise in an already surprise-heavy season.  I don’t know about you, but I think America got it wrong this week.

Many predicted, including myself, Scotty and James would be the final two left standing.

On a lighter note, Thursday’s results show featured performances from Enrique Iglesias, Lady Gaga and Jordin Sparks and the world premiere of Steven Tyler’s new video.  The Idols also teamed up for a few country duets.

Scotty and James sang for Brad Paisley and Keith Urban’s “Start A Band.”

Haley and Lauren did Miranda Lambert proud with her song “Gunpowder and Lead.”

Do you think James Durbin deserved to be eliminated? Will you miss his rockin’ wild voice? Do you think he has a successful career ahead of him?

Voice your opinion now, and relive Durbin’s memorable first audition performance.
