It looks like Dixie Chicks Natalie Maines is going in a different direction.  Her solo album 'Mother,' will be out May 7th, but it doesn't sound too country.  The title track is a cover of Pink Floyd.

Maines even says it's something different for her, 'it has more of a rock edge.' She did call on her old band mates to help. One of the songs, 'Come Cryin’ to Me,' was co-written with fellow Dixie Chicks Martie Maguire and Emily Robison.
