While spending Memorial Day in Canada, Tad and I introduced Kan-Jam to our Canadian friends. It didn't take them long to get the hang of the game that they played until the sun went down. If someone could have brought spotlights out to the backyard, they'd STILL be playing.

The object of the game is to be the first team of 2 to reach 21. Each person throws a Frisbee at a black can with a slit in the side. If you hit the can, it's 2 points. It your partner knocks the Frisbee into the side of the can, it's 1 point. If they knock it into the can, it's 3 points. If someone throws the Frisbee through the slot, which rarely happens, the game is over.

After several rounds, lot of smack talk, rolls in the grass and a chin injury, Jamie and myself came out as the Kan-Jam champions and one player came out with a bruise. The highlights were missed by the cameraman (Tad) who was more interested in his beverage than the game going on in the backyard.

The backyard game that was created in the 1980s by Charles Sciandra and Paul Swisher in Buffalo, New York has officially crossed the border.

How did you spend your Memorial Day weekend?
