You've heard Grandpa or Grandma say it, "if March weather comes in like a lion, it will go out like a lamb."  Call it a Proverb, Old Wive's Tale or Weather Lore, we all hope it's true.  So, is it?

My grandfather believed in many of those "old sayings" and repeated them often.  And he lived by the Farmer's Almanac for the forecast and their "signs," to tell when the fish would be biting.  So is the lamb/lion thing true?  Let's see what the almanac has to say.

With March being such a changeable month, in which we can see warm spring-like temperatures or late-season snowstorms, you can understand how this saying might hold true in some instances. We can only hope that if March starts off cold and stormy it will end warm and sunny, but the key word is hope. However, this saying seems be to more of a rhyme  rather than a true weather predictor.

In checking their forecast for March.  It looks we're in for more snow between the 16th and 19th and another system that may be rain or snow the 20th through the 23rd.  But the end of the month should be mild.  By the way the fish bite best in the evening for the next week.
