If you were looking forward to a live episode of "American Idol" on FOX tonight, you're out of luck.  The show was taped last night.  A rep for FOX says "We have pre-taped shows at this stage of the competition before, although it's rare."  One of the reasons is to make sure all 13 contestants make it into the 2 hour show.

Idol executive producer, Nigel Lythgoe, defended their decision not to air a live episode by tweeting, "We are pre-taping for 2 weeks as we have a new Director & new judges.  It has nothing to do with minipulation you morons."

The Top 13 will sing songs from their favorite artists tonight on FOX from 8-10pm.  And since it was taped, the song selection has been leaked online at americanidolnet.com.  If you don't want to know what the contestants will be singing, stop reading.
