Ice Fishing Group Rescued From Oneida Lake

“You’re on thin ice”. We’ve all heard that phrase but it took a literal turn Wednesday when, according to YNN, 6 adults and 2 children were rescued from Oneida Lake after a slab of ice they were fishing on broke free from the shoreline and began drifting. Local officials say they were ready for just such a situation.
Frank Thompson Jr., Bridgeport Fire Chief said, “We just actually had an ice rescue class, a basic and advanced that was held just last month. So we do take it serious and we train and try to be proficient at it in case something like this happens.”

Fortunately no one was injured. Hope they caught some fish to make it all worthwhile!
