‘I Love NY’ Signs May Be Coming Down

Those 'I Love NY' signs along New York roadways aren't getting much love and may be coming down because they're considered nonconforming and a distraction to drivers.

The Federal Highway Administration and officials from the state Department of Transportation plan to meet next month to discuss a plan to remedy the issue. If action isn't taken, reports say New York could lose a billion dollars in federal funding.

According to a report from CBS New York, a half dozen of the 'I Love NY' signs have already been removed on Long Island.

Earlier this week, WIBX 950 spoke with Assemblyman Anthony Brindisi regarding his concerns over some of the work done on the 'I Love NY' signs. In the interview, he said three New York based companies were awarded contracts for the signs, but some of the work was subcontracted to a company in Arkansas.
