I Discovered Another Great Brewery On Vacation
During our vacation in Cape Cod last week, my wife and I searched out some new destinations. And of course, I found a brewery! As a former tour guide during my college days at the F.X. Matt Brewery, I appreciate other breweries (and brewery tour guides) and discovered Cape Cod Brewery in Hyannis, Cape Cod Massachusetts.
We took their brewery tour, which was basically standing in the brewery for a one-hour lecture on Cape Cod Beer. This is a true craft brewer making a number of styles of beer; ales only, no lagers. We sampled Cape Cod Red, IPA, Harvest Ale (similar to an Octoberfest) and Beach Blonde (my favorite).
Unfortunately, you can't get it here as they only distribute in Massachusetts and parts of New England. On top of that, the beer is not pasteurized, so it has to be kept cold. And due to that fact, you can only buy it on draught in taverns or in refrigerated growlers.
If you're ever on the Cape, search out Cape Cod Beer. They're good, fresh and it's nice to support a local business.
