How We Choose A Shelter Pet

Going to an animal shelter to pick out a pet can be a tough proposition. You look around and see so many dogs and cats that need a home and the natural inclination is to want to take them all home with you. Put when it comes down to selecting the one, what is it we look for? The ASPCA is releasing a study and the results, as reported in the Wall Street Journal, were interesting.
Apparently there is differing criteria when selecting a dog as opposed to a cat.

I’ve heard from a lot of people who have adopted shelter pets that they actually let the animal pick them by seeing just how much interest it shows when they approach it. Regardless of how you choose your shelter pet it is important that you can care for it and give it the love and devotion that it will certainly give you. More information about shelter pets can be had by visiting the Stevens-Swan Humane Society in Utica, the Rome Humane Society and the Herkimer County Humane Society.
