Schools in the Holland Patent School District were placed on lockdown this morning following an incident at Floyd Elementary School.

Superintendent Kathleen Davis says a "very persistent man" approached a playground supervisor looking for a female staff member, wanting to befriend her.

The suspect left the school in a vehicle, but staff were able to get his license plate number.

The Oneida County Sheriff's Office is investigating.

Davis says will remain on lockdown as a precaution until the Sheriff's Office give the all clear.

UPDATE: The lockdown at Holland Patent was lifted this afternoon at around 1 p.m.  Afternoon activities will continue as scheduled.
