Brian's Deli in Herkimer Closing After 30 Years

A staple on North Main Street in Herkimer for over 30 years will soon close its doors. Brian's Roast Beef Deli shuts down Saturday, September 19th as the owner, Brian Carney battles cancer.

Carney was diagnosed in December and his family has been running the restaurant.

The family broke the sad news on Facebook:

"As you may or may not know by now, we are officially closing our business on Saturday, September 19th 2015.
On December 23rd 2014, Brian was diagnosed with fourth stage muscular invasive bladder cancer. Since then, his family have ran the restaurant for him. Unfortunately, Brian can no longer keep the business running because of his illness and needs as much rest and comfort as he can get.
Our family would like to spend as much time with Brian as possible and are complying with his wishes to close his restaurant that has been a staple of Herkimer for the past 37 years.
We are looking at new opportunities and business ventures in hopes to keep Brian's legacy alive. Hopefully, we can get the next generation of "Brian's" started as soon as possible so we can keep serving all of our faithful customers and even some new ones in the mix."

A prayer wall has been set up at the Deli for customers to leave messages for Brian and his family.
