Have you ever heard of the Teal Pumpkin Project? It's been all over Facebook this year, and here's what it's all about.

The Teal Pumpkin Project launched in 2014 as a national campaign by the Food Allergy Research & Education. What this project does is raise awareness of food allergies, and promotes inclusion of all trick-or-treaters throughout the Halloween season.

See, some of the candy we hand out contains ingredients that many kids are allergic to. This in turn means Trick or Treating may not be a fun for those kids. Imagine, Trick or Treating not being fun for a child? I can’t."

The project hopes that people will provide non-food treats for trick-or-treaters and paint a pumpkin teal to place on the front of your home. They also have a free printable sign.

This nationwide movement offers an alternative for kids with food allergies, as well as other children for whom candy is not an option. It helps keep Halloween a fun, positive experience for all children.
