Happy Birthday to Utica’s Own Annette

For those of us at a certain age “The Mickey Mouse Club” was–as they say now–must see TV. One of the original Mouseketeers was none other than Utica’s own Annette Funicello who is celebrating her 70th birthday today.
Born in Utica on October 22, 1942, Annette and her family moved to California when she was 4 years old. She auditioned and was selected as one of the original Mouseketeers by Walt Disney. She went on to star in a number of movies including the popular “beach party” series, many co-starring Frankie Avalon.
