Hang on to your hat. It's going to be windy today and the National Weather Service has most of central New York under a Wind Advisory until 2 this afternoon.

* LOCATIONS...Oneida, Southern Cayuga, Onondaga, Tompkins, Madison, Cortland, Chenango and Otsego Counties.

* WINDS...20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 50 mph.

* IMPACTS...Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result.

Expect occasional freezing rain and freezing drizzle producing an additional light glaze to one tenth of an inch of ice, mainly in the higher elevations. It''ll change to showers and a possible thunderstorm that could produce heavy rainfall.

Overnight rain changes to snow but there is little to no accumulation expected.

The windy conditions have caused several power outages across central New York, affecting over 12,000 customers. Report an outage or check the map to see when power will be restored at National Grid's website.

There are also several roads closed.

  • Route 365 between Korber Road and Mappa Ave in the town of Barneveld
  • Route 8 between Stuben Road and North Gage Road in the town of Deerfield
  • Route 12 between Calvin Place and Tibbitts Road in the town of Kirkland
