Hallelujah! Twinkies Are Coming Back

The countdown has begun. What, the countdown to Garth Brook’s out-of-retirement CD? No, even better. It’s the countdown to the return of the Twinkie! America was thrown into a downward spiral late last year when it was announced that the maker of the iconic treat, Hostess, was going out of business and that the cream filled sponge cake was on the endangered goodies list. Now comes news that the Twinkie will be making a comeback.
CNN Money reports that a pair of private equity firms have purchased the bankrupt company and, according to one executive, Dean Metropoulos, are looking forward to bringing back the Twinkie and other former Hostess favorites back to grocery shelves.
“We look forward to having America’s favorite snacks back on the shelf by this summer. We are also ecstatic to bring jobs back to many cities across the country.”

THIS SUMMER! You mean we have to wait 3 or 4 more months to sink our teeth into that flavorful sponge concoction? Oh, alright, it will be worth the wait and the anticipation will be so much fun.
