As the craft beer market continues to expand, many farming operations began thinking of growing hops.  The same market growth is now bringing barley into the conversation. and as they say, nothing beats getting some tips right from the horses mouth. Check out Cornell Cooperative Extension 's Malting Barley Workshop.

The workshop is Monday, February 1 from 11 to 2 at CCE's offices in Oriskany and includes lunch.  The agenda will include:

  • Mark Sorrels will review his malting barley variety trial results via webex
  • Kevin Ganoe will talk about production of malting barley
  • Kevin Ganoe and John Brouillette will build a crop budget
  • Erin Tones from Sunoco will explain their malting operation

The presentation will be followed by a question and answer session.  Because the workshop is soon, call to reserve a spot.  Contact Jeff Miller at CCE at 315-736-3394 extension 120.
