We usually think of late summer gardening as pumpkins and gourds, or preparing the soil for next spring. But there are still plenty of vegetables that can be grown and harvested in the fall. Cornell Cooperative Extension is offering a special workshop on what you can grow and best practices.

The workshop, "Growing Fall Vegetables" will cover growing peas, kale, spinach, garlic and salad greens.  There will also be tips on the best varieties to grow, timing for planting fall vegetables as well as cover crops, sheet mulching and other techniques for preparing beds for winter.

The workshop will be held, Tuesday August 11 from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm at Cornell's Tompkins Education Center 615 Willow Avenue in Ithaca.  Cost of the class is $5-$10.  For more information contact Chrys Gardener at (607) 272-2292 or email cab69@cornell.edu.
