Great American Irish Festival This Weekend

As my dear old Irish dad used to say, “There are two kinds of Irish – those that are and those that want to be”. Well, with a name like McShea, there’s no doubt my Irish heritage, and this weekend we can all become Irish wanna-bees at the annual Great American Irish Festival.
The festivities begin Friday at 5 p.m. and continue through Sunday afternoon at the Herkimer Country Fairgrounds in Frankfort. If you like celtic music, sometimes mixed with a wee bit of rock, you’ll love the live musical acts playing all weekend.
I recall when my wife and I went to the Great American Irish Festival a few years ago and first hearing The Elders play. Wow! Celtic music with a very contemporary twist (I even bought their CD), and they’re back again this year. Check out their website for admission prices, schedules and all the rest. Enjoy this signature event in central New York during the Frog Days of Summer, and “may the luck ‘o the Irish be with you”.
