Granger Smith and his wife Amber are expecting their third baby this spring. The "If the Boot Fits" singer shared the news with Taste of Country prior to the 2016 ACM Awards.

Baby No. 3 is due on May 16, and the couple are waiting to find out if it's a boy or girl. He (or she) will join 4-year-old London and 2-year-old Lincoln. Smith has mostly kept quiet about the pregnancy so far, and he admits he's part excited for it to be over.

"This baby has a slow heartbeat," he explains, "and Amber is carrying kind of lower ... all indications of boy." He's not necessarily rooting for either, the singer adds, but they have names picked out for both sexes. He is rooting for the due date to arrive quickly.

"At first you're like, 'Oh, this is so great! We'll think of names.' And then you're like, 'Okay, just get this baby out."

Smith sympathizes with his wife, but 'fesses up to one misconception about expecting fathers. This is his third child, and he's quick to point out that delivery it's not a fun or easy day for him either.

"The day of the birth, everyone goes, 'Greatest day of your life, right?' And I'm like, 'No, it's horrible,'" he says. The stress of not being able to control any aspect of such an important moment is too much for him to enjoy. In the end, it's a very relieving day, once everyone falls asleep happy and healthy.

Smith also reveals how his alter ego, Earl Dibbles Jr., would do in the birthing room. Now that's a video we'd like to see!

Smith's Wheelhouse Records debut Remington is in stores and at iTunes now, featuring the chart-topping hit "Backroad Song" and "If the Boot Fits." He talked to Taste of Country during the Westwood One Backstage remotes prior to Sunday night's 2016 ACM Awards.
