Good News For UC Hockey Fans
September 5, 2012 1:14 PM For the past several years, we Central New Yorkers have adopted Utica College (my alma mater) hockey teams as our own. Season after season, the Pioneers have packed them in at the Utica Memorial Auditorium, and now they’ll have a chance to continue that for the next five years.
Here are the details from our sister station, WIBX:
“The Utica College hockey teams will continue to call the Utica Auditorium home for the next five years. UC and the Upper Mohawk Valley Auditorium Authority have agreed to a five-year extension of their lease agreement.
The Pioneers men’s and women’s teams have played at the Aud since the teams’ inception in 2001.
The men’s team has consistently set Division III attendance records.”
The 2012-’13 UC Men’s hockey season begins with a home opener against Morrisville State College on October 19th, while UC Women’s hockey gets underway on October 21st at the Utica Aud when they take on Toronto Aeros.
