The Chittenango Lions Club is preparing for their annual Walleye fishing derby on Oneida Lake.

It all happens on May 5 & 6 in 2018, and $15 will get you into the contest.

Tickets must be bought by midnight on May 4, and will get you breakfast at Bridgeport Methodist Church from 5 a.m. until 11 a.m.

Derby headquarters is at Oneida Shores County Park, 9400 Bartell Rd, Brewerton.

There will be a $25 prize for the biggest walleye measured at each station per day, with all awards being presented at the awards ceremony on Sunday.

The big prizes come from the DEC tagged walleye:

In April the NYS DEC tags three walleyes for our Derby and releases them into Oneida Lake. The fish will have a Derby value of $5000, $2500 or $1250 during the Derby. The tag numbers and values will be disclosed on Saturday morning, May 5th, at Derby Headquarters, online, and at each measuring station.

All claimants must present a valid 2018 Entry Ticket and the walleye with tag attached. Tagged walleyes must be presented to a measuring station before 3 p.m. close, May 6, 2018.
