George Jones Announces Final Tour
After more than 50 years in the music business, “The Possum” is calling it quits. George Jones announced plans for a farewell tour and one final album on his website today.
George will turn 81, September 12 and says he wants to spend more time with his wife, Nancy.
“It is tough to stop doing what I love, but the time has come”. As a tribute to his loyal fans he wants to tour one more year and let them know, this will be his last.
The final tour will be called, “The Grand Tour” after his 1974, #1 hit of the same name. Dates will be announced later. George also plans to record a new studio album prior to the tour and Dolly Parton is helping write the songs.
