Gander Mountain is coming back. After declaring bankruptcy and closing all it's stores last year, Gander Mountain was acquired by Camping World Holdings, Inc. and they're reopening nearly 70 stores across the country.

According to Nation's Best Sports, there were 126 locations of the chain when it declared bankruptcy. We learned that the New Hartford store was closing in March 2017. Camping World won the bid for the bankrupt company's assets, as well as some of its leases. However, not all locations will be reopening.

Looking at Camping World Holding's stores that will reopen in 2018, 3 locations in New York made the list:

  • Kingston, NY (Hudson Valley)
  • Tonawanda, NY (Buffalo)
  • Cicero, NY (Syracuse)

They may add more locations in the future but there's no indication if New Hartford is being considered. Retail Dive noted that the company would be focusing on smaller stores, and keeping only the most profitable locations. The Syracuse and Hudson Valley locations are slated to open in February under the new name Gander Outdoors.
