FrogFest’s Josh Thompson Survived Bear Encounters

Josh Thompson need fear nothing more than the sun and a over zealous fan or two at Big Frog’s Wild West Frogfest and Rodeo, June 9, at the Herkimer County Fairgrounds. That would be nothing compared to his two encounters with bears, something he recently spoke about and reported on his website.
“I had one incident when I was riding my bike… on a country road… and a black bear ran out 50 feet in front of me. It was kinda scary.”
“Another time, I had one try to climb up my tree while I was deer huntin’. Apparently, I smelled delicious.”
Josh’s bear remedy? “You kinda kick at ‘em and clap a little bit. The thought is that they turn away and run. I’ve been fortunate enough that they have.”
And if a bear ever tried to eat Josh’s leg off? He readily admits, “I would scream like a woman.”
