Can you imagine enjoying a nice meal at a fancy restaurant and learning if you don't chew the food good enough, it will actually try to kill you? There's real food out there that people eat, by choice, that could murder them. Here's a few to watch out for:

1) Sannakji

Ever heard of Sannakji? It's LIVE baby octopus. Asphyxiation. When you digest Adult octopus, they are often cut up and served. That's not the case with baby octopus. They are served whole, and still living.  which increases your chance of choking.

Fun fact: live octopus are highly conscious that they're about to be eaten and will often use their suction pads to latch on your throat as a defense mechanism - that's why some diners who don't chew properly before swallowing can choke to death.

Why even chance it?

2) Blood Clams

The name alone should scare many diners away.... but it doesn't.

Blood clams are so named because they're parboiled quickly, for 20 seconds, in order to retain their sweet brininess and an excessive amount of blood. The result? A breeding ground of viruses and bacteria like Hepatitis A and E, typhoid and dysentery."

Diners will have a 15 per cent chance of contracting hepatitis. Again, why even chance it?

3) Cassava

Cassava is rich in carbohydrates and highly lethal if not cooked properly. Cassava is often used in stews to replace starch like potatoes.

Each kilogram of Cassava root contains 20 mg of cyanide, which is enough to permanently knock-out a cow. Otherwise, in smaller amounts, Cassava can cause konzo, a paralytic disease in humans."

Is the taste really worth the risk? You can read the full list from GQ.
