First Female Ref in NFL

For the first time in the history of the NFL, we get to talk about a woman and it has nothing to do with cheerleaders, girlfriends or harassed locker room reporters.
Shannon Eastin will referee Thursday’s preseason game between the Green Bay Packers and San Diego Chargers. It’s the first time a woman will ref an NFL game. Shannon, who is a ref in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference, will be part of the officiating crew. This is all possible because the NFL has locked out all of its permanent officials due to a contract dispute, so the league is using replacement referees. And if you don’t think she’ll be tough enough to cut it out on the gridiron, think again. Eastin is a six-time national Judo champion.
Do you think having women refs in the NFL is long overdue or not their place?
