The Florida lifeguard who was fired earlier in the week for rescuing a drowning swimmer outside the zone of the area his company is responsible for watching, was offered his job back, but he declined.

Tomas Lopez said, 'It's another chapter in my life closed and I am just going to continue to get my schooling finished and get on with my career.'

Jeff Ellis, the head of the company for which Lopez worked, said it was a mistake to fire him. Ellis said, 'Clearly, he should not have been terminated for what occurred. I know he has tried to do the right thing.'

I understand rules are rules, but sometimes rules are meant to be broken.  Especially when someone's life is on the line.  This guy is a hero and should be recognized as such!  Hear his story and vote on whether or not you think he should have been fired below.
