Final ‘X-Factor’ Auditions Includes Country Boy Tim Cifers [VIDEOS]
The fate of the 32 singers left on ‘The X-Factor’ is now in their mentor’s hands. The last round of auditions took place at the judge’s homes last night on Fox. Country boy, Tim Cifers, picked a lesser known song, but one that had special meaning to him. He sang ’Dance With My Father,’ done by several artists including Celine Dion and Kellie Coffey. But was it good enough to get him into the live shows? Thats up to his mentor LA Reid.
Chris Renee
Garbage man Chris Renee, who just finished rehab, is trying to get his life on track. He’s got a good shot at making it through after putting his own spin on “Everyday People’ by Sly & The Family Stone. I don’t even LA Reid. His boy category is going to be tough to narrow down from 8 to 4. But my top choice is Chris. He’s so unique and just a like able guy, you can’t help but root for him, on the show and in life.
Rachel Crow
Simon Cowell doesn’t have it easy either. His 8 girls are all great singers. But how can he say no to 13 year old Rachel Crow. Not only is she the cutest little thing, but she’s well beyond her years. She took the Back Street Boys hit ‘I Want It That Way,’ and flipped it on its head. Plus she put emotion into each word she sang. Is this girl really only 13? If she doesn’t make it through, I’ll be shocked!
Melanie Amaro
Melanie Amaro has flown a little under the radar on the show. But last night she put herself into the spotlight and even made Simon collapse on his sofa after her audition. She took on the enormous task of Michael Jackson’s ‘Will You Be There,’ and she killed it!
Josh Krajcik
Nicole Scherzinger is the mentor for the over 30′s group. How she’s going to decide who makes it through is another tough job. Josh Krajcik, who use to work at a burrito joint and still looks like he does, blows me away every time he sings. He does not sound the way he looks. And he always chooses female songs. Josh took on Robert Flack’s ”The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face,’ and absolutely killed it.
LeRoy Bell
LeRoy Bell is one of the oldest contestants, although he doesn’t look it. He just turned 60 and has been singing for years. LeRoy’s voice is so silky smooth. Probably from years of practice. He took on Garth Brooks’ ”To Make You Gell My Love.’
InTENsity
Paula Abdul may have the easiest job with the groups. Some work and some don’t . InTENsity is a group of young kids who auditioned as solo artists but the judges weren’t ready to send them home. So they put the 10 kids into one group. They were great considering they had only worked together for a short time and the oldest one is only 17. I’d be surprised if Paula doesn’t put them through after their mash up of ‘You Make My Dreams Come True’ and ‘That’s Not My Name.’
The Stereo Hogzz
The Stereo Hogzz are the best at harmony when it comes to the groups. But they may not have done enough with Marvin Gaye’s ‘I Heard It Through The Grapevine.’ Although the song was good, it just didn’t seem like they all sang together enough. Only time will tell, and Paula of course.
Tuesday night the mentors will each have to narrow their teams of 8 down to 4. Tune into Fox at 8 to find out who moves on the live shows. My predictions – Chris Renee, Rachel Crow, Stacey Francis and The Stereo Hogzz will all get good news.
