Maybe you've got a little vacation time left and looking to take a fall getaway. I usually like to hold some vacation days for Christmas time, and maybe you do as well, but what about now? Here are some fall vacation ideas you might want to consider.

Fortunately, we have a number of great fall vacation ideas right in our own backyard. With the vibrant colors of our fall foliage, some of the "snowbirds" in Florida fly up north to take in the breathtaking views in the Adirondacks, and you can get there by car!

For day-trippers, there are a number of apple farms and ciders mills, and with several area colleges, a local college football weekend can be fun.

If you want to venture out a bit further and longer, here are the top 10 fall vacation ideas according to M.G Hardiman from yahoo.com:

"Kansas City, Missouri

History buffs will love the Arabia Steamboat Museum. Music lovers will love the blues and jazz clubs in and around Kansas City, where Count Basie and Charlie Parker got their starts.

Louisville, Kentucky

Nestled on the banks of the Ohio River, this Southern city offers small-town charm, a cosmopolitan riverfront district, a diverse art scene, and Restaurant Row. Sports fanatics will love the Louisville Slugger Museum.

New York, NY
