Planning a trip to the movies soon? Well, don't be surprised if you get your purses or bags checked before you enter. Several theaters across the country have ramped up security efforts in the wake of several movie theater shootings, including the tragic massacre that occurred in Colorado. The Regal Cinemas at Destiny USA is the closest theatre to begin this policy, but others are sure to follow.

Regal Cinemas takes the safety of their patrons so seriously, they have even added the security process to their Admittance Procedures. Right after the policy where it talks about movie ratings it states,

Backpacks/Packages/Bags:
Security issues have become a daily part of our lives in America. Regal Entertainment Group wants our customers and staff to feel comfortable and safe when visiting or working in our theatres. To ensure the safety of our guests and employees, backpacks and bags of any kind are subject to inspection prior to admission. We acknowledge that this procedure can cause some inconvenience and that it is not without flaws, but hope these are minor in comparison to increased safety.

Most people have responded positively to the increased security and have no problem cooperating. For those who don't, there is only one solution. Don't bring bags, purses, or packages into theaters. I'll take a little peak through my property over injury or death any day.
