Eight are left and Fultonville teen Sawyer Fredericks never imagined he'd be one of them on 'The Voice.' "I did not see myself getting this far. I was just thinking I'd take as much from this experience and go back home and keep moving on with my career. I just so thankful to be were I'm at and keep soaking in as much as I can."

There's a lot to soak in with guest mentors like One Republic's Ryan Tedder and Lionel Richie helping coach Pharrell who Fredericks joined on stage last week. "It was awesome. Just to see him perform and I was right there next to him was really cool,' he says.

I'm just seeing where this takes me. I will always be doing music, whether I'm in Hollywood on a stage or at home in my room

Fredericks unique style, from his voice to his look, is making him a fan favorite. Ladies love the long hair, but will he ever cut it off? "I may cut my hair at some point but I do like having long hair so it probably won't happen.".

Sawyer did try and fool fans on April Fools day that he cut his hair and "a lot of the fans completely freaked out," Sawyer says.

The hair is as signature as the hat. "When I was little I always wanted a bowler hat. We went to an antique store and got an old derby off the mannequin in the window."

The competition has helped Fredericks come out of his shell. "Being on the show has helped me overcome my shyness. I don't think I'm nearly as shy as I was when this journey first started."

Sawyer thanks his teammate Koryn for having something to do with helping him open up. "She's not shy at all. She's really great with the fans and I'm like watching her thinking wow she's a natural at this."

No matter how far Fredericks makes it on the competition, he says he's grateful but will always remain true to who he is. "I'm just seeing where this takes me. I will always be doing music, whether I'm in Hollywood on a stage or at home in my room." The local Farmer's Markets in Fultonville will just be a little more crowded. "I think I'll need a bigger sound system," he jokes.

Cheer on Fredericks tonight when he performs for a spot in top 6 after getting advice from guest mentor Gwen Stefani. It's on NBC at 8pm.
