Additional Information

The 1st Annual Free Veterans’ Picnic will be held on Saturday, September 27, 2014 from 1:00PM – 7:00PM at the East Herkimer Fire Dept., located on Main Road in Herkimer, to honor area veterans and their families. All retired and active military members are invited to attend this inaugural picnic, along with all community members.

Dan Enea, owner of Daniel J. Enea Funeral and Cremation Care on Route 5 in Herkimer, is the event coordinator/planner. He says, “It has always been my goal to have a casual setting where we could honor and learn the importance of our veterans. The event will be laid back and simply an opportunity for everyone to talk with the veterans while at the same time offering our gratitude along with hearing about their experience serving in the military." Enea feels that the time has come to celebrate our area veterans as a whole for our freedom.

This family friendly event will include free food, drink, and games for children along with other entertainment with no admission charge. One of the event highlights will be John Seymour (involved in the Herkimer shooting tragedy), who will offer patriotic music.

Please RSVP to Dan Enea at (315) 508-5250 or info@eneacares.com. You may also contact Laura Powers, co-coordinator, at (315) 868-0233 or laura7ellen@gmail.com for additional information. Local businesses are being asked for food or drink donations, along with people to help serve.
