The public is invited to hear Rear Admiral Barry C. Black, USN (Ret.), Chaplain of the United States Senate, speak at the International Seventh Day Adventist Church at 1134 Herkimer Rd. in Utica, on Saturday, May 3, 2014, at 11:00 a.m.
Chaplain Black, who has previously spoken at the church, is presently the 62nd Chaplain of the United States Senate, a post he has held since 2003. Prior to his work in the Senate, he served in the United States Navy for 27 years before retiring form his final post as Chief of Navy Chaplains.
Chaplain Black is the author of two books and received the 1995 NAACP Renowned Service Award for his contribution to equal opportunity and civil rights, as well as the 2002 Benjamin Elijah Mays Distinguished Leadership Award.
