Estimating Mom’s Monetary Value

Whether mom is a stay-at-home or a working mom it is a job with no set hours and lots of overtime. How much is a mom’s work worth when a dollar value is put on it? According to Salary.com a stay-at-home mom’s compensation would total $112,962 in 2012 dollars while a working mom’s gross would be $110,494. How were these numbers arrived at?
The stay-at-home mom’s duties included housekeeper, cook, driver, janitor and daycare/teacher. The resulting salary computation?
Stay-at-home moms work a total of 94.7 hours a week, with a 40-hour base and 54.7 hours of overtime on their mom duties. That’s good for an annual salary of $112,962, or $17.80 an hour. But we all know the value of raising one or more people into quality human beings cannot ever be truly calculated
As for the working mom’s compensation.
Working moms make less with an estimated annual salary of $66,979, logging 57.9 hours a week (40 base, 17.9 of OT), regarding their mom duties. But that doesn’t take into account the 35.7 hours a week these career moms are averaging at a paying job, where they make an average annual salary of $45,515.
Most mom’s would surely say that the rewards of motherhood are priceless but it is worth noting that if there was a wage attached to her work it would be a handsome sum indeed.
