Now that the Emerald Ash Borer has been confirmed in Rome, what happens?  That answer will come at a meeting between several state agencies and the citizens of Oneida County next week.  Cornell Cooperative Extension encourages all woodland land owners to attend.

The Emerald Ash Borer (EAB) kills North American Ash trees; including green, white and black ash.  That's a huge part of Oneida County's tree population.

Oneida County has 9% Ash based on a 2012 U.S. Forest Service Inventory.  New York has more than 900 million ash trees. Green ash, in particular, has been widely planted as an ornamental tree in yards

The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, Tug Hill Tomorrow and the New York State Tug Hill Commission will host the meeting Wednesday, August 17 from 6 to 8p.m. at the Town of Lee Municipal Building, 5808 Stokes Lee Center Road in Lee Center. You're asked to RSVP with Glen Roberts, DEC Region 6 Forester.  To do so, or get more information call (315) 376-3521 or email glen.roberts@dec.ny.gov
