Elvis Presley is an iconic performer that everyone knows, even though many of you may have born after his death in 1977. Today, we begin our "Country Classic Double" at 11:30 a.m. with the number one country song on this day in 1956, "Don't Be Cruel". Elvis had a number one with that on pop charts as well, and the flip side of that record, "Hound Dog" shared the number one spot.

Elvis lost some of his popularity in the early 1960s, being out of the music scene serving our country in the army, and then finding it hard to compete with the "British Invasion" of Rock 'N Roll. Then, in 1968, Elvis starred in his "'68 Comeback Special" on NBC-TV, and he was back, big time! Here's a video clip of Elvis performing "Don't Be Cruel" from that TV show. Tell me how cool Elvis looked in that black leather get up!
