Don’t Get Hooked By Fake Fishing and Hunting License Websites

The Department of Environmental Conservation is warning hunters to be wary of some websites that may offer misleading information when it comes to fishing and hunting licenses. 

In a DEC press release the websites, Fishinglicense.org and Hunting-license.org
are mentioned as being misleading.

"These sites offer information on how their products can simplify the purchase of a New York State fishing license or hunting license. Though some of the logistical licensing information is correct and may be useful, these sites also offer a consumer the ability to purchase time-saving downloads for recreational licensing services that are specifically NOT affiliated with the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation."

The DEC adds that while you will get assistance for the money you spend. you won't get an actual fishing or hunting license. Nor will you get a credit that will reduce the cost of purchasing a New York fishing or hunting license.
