The Dixie Chicks are back on the road together for the first time in years, and they used their platform to pay tribute to one of the greats last week with their cover of Prince’s "Nothing Compares 2 U." Many artists have been reacting strongly to the news of the icon’s passing on April 21, and the Chicks are no exception.

Awash in purple light and silhouetted with Prince’s trademark symbol, the trio performed with heart and true emotion on stage in Horsens, Denmark, on April 22. Lead singer Natalie Maines began the tune belting the passionate lyrics with all she had, and soon the band joined in, including fellow Chicks Martie Erwin Maguire and Emily Erwin Robinson on violin and pedal steel.

Dixie Chicks are in the middle of their world tour, which kicked off April 16 in Belgium and runs through October, wrapping in Los Angeles. It’s their first U.S. headlining tour in a decade, marking a reunion many country fans are thrilled about, especially after Maines teased the possibility via social media months ago. The trio heads stateside in early June after finishing up their dates across the pond. The band also recently re-released four of their albums on vinyl, three of which will available in the medium for the first time.
