Did Google’s Street View Car Run Over a Donkey?

Did Google run over a donkey while one of their cars was driving around taking photos for Google Maps? It sure looks that way.

Twitter user @TheRealSheldonC tweeted a picture of a donkey - presumably dead - lying on the road in Botswana.

The Australian press picked up the story, and says Google told them the car didn't hit the donkey.  The donkey was lying there injured and got up after the Google car drove past it. But if you rotate the map, the donkey is standing at the side of the road.
