Derek Jeter Hit With Mammoth Tax Bill

Derek Jeter’s Florida $12 million mansion–nicknamed “St. Jetersburg” by neighbors– was completed a year ago and now, according to the New York Daily News, he’s facing a property tax bill that would stagger anyone, even someone as wealthy as the Yankee shortstop. And just how much will his 2012 tax bill be for the 7-bedroom, 9-bath waterfront “bungalow”?
The final 2012 tax bill for his digs is $265,671, said a Hillsborough county clerk. “The reason for the change is that in 2011 the property was not complete,” the clerk said. “The tax assessment was based on vacant land.”
That’s about a four fold increase from last years bill of $68,673. Before we start to take a collection to help him pay his taxes keep in mind he recently sold his Trump Tower condo in New York for $15.5 million.
