Denny Hamlin Wins at New Hampshire, Johnson Takes Point Lead in Chase

Denny Hamlin took the checkered flag for the fifth time this season winning NASCAR‘s Sylvania 300 at the Loudon, New Hampshire track Sunday. It was the third race in the Chase for the Sprint Cup series and although Hamlin crossed the finish line first Jimmie Johnson took over the overall points lead by virtue of his second place finish. Hamlin survived a major scare about two-thirds of the way through the race.
With about one-third of the race to go, Hamlin sucked what appeared to be a plastic bag onto the air intake on the front of his car. Busch, who had blown a cylinder and is not a part of the Chase, slowed down to allow his teammate to come up behind him. The tubulence between the cars blew the debris off, and Hamlin was back on his way.
