After 38 years, the grandstand at the New York State Fair is coming down.

Demolition is planned for Saturday afternoon. "The Grandstand will be brought down by explosive charges at approximately 1:20 pm Saturday, January 9th," said a post on the fair Facebook page.

Parking will be available in the Brown Lot, across State Fair Blvd. from the Fairgrounds, beginning at 9:30 am. An area in the Brown Lot offering a direct view of the Grandstand will be cordoned off for public access.

The demolition will make room for a new RV park. "This The first step in a massive project to renovate and upgrade the nation’s oldest state fair."

Future fair concerts will be held at the new Lakeview Amphitheater.
