It's no secret if you're a fan of Nascar that the sport can be a dangerous one. Dale Earnhardt Jr. knows as well, of course his father, the legendary Dale Sr. lost his life at Daytona back in 2011. Dale Jr. had a close call himself during today's Duck Commander 500 in Texas. The race was rain-delayed yesterday.

As you see in this video, his #88 National Guard car caught fire after clipping the grass on lap 12. This was Little E's worst finish of The Sprint Cup Series. He has finished in the top five, four out of the last six races.

Dale Jr. did take to Twitter to apologize to fans:

The winner of today's race was the #22 car driven by Joey Logano.
