After a lengthy battle in the New York State Senate and Assembly, you are now free to play daily fantasy sports through websites like Fan Duel and Draft Kings.

Just in time for football season, Governor Andrew Cuomo signed legislation on Wednesday to legalize daily fantasy as well as regulate the games, requiring Fanduel and Draft Kings to register with the New York State Gaming Commission and operate under their supervision.

The state is expected to collect around $4 million per year from the taxing of fantasy sports, and Governor Cuomo has said that money will go directly to fund state education aid.

"Daily fantasy sports have proven to be popular in New York, but up until now have operated with no supervision and no protections for players," Governor Cuomo said. "This legislation strikes the right balance that allows this activity to continue with oversight from state regulators, new consumer protections and more funding for education."

Along with taxing the revenue from daily fantasy, the legislation aims to protect players who are not used to the system by offering introductory procedures to new players, identifying highly experienced players, keeping minors from playing and protecting players' money after it is deposited.

All of this comes after a huge push by both Draft Kings and Fanduel to get the Governor to reinstate daily fantasy gaming by having existing users inundate Cuomo's office with emails demanding a solution be reached.

What do you think? Will you be playing daily fantasy sports now that it is legal once again?
