New York State's motto is Excelsior, meaning "ever upward," so choosing New York's highest point is a great symbolic spot for a marriage proposal.  This great story was shared on Reddit's Adirondack's subreddit about Paolo and Charmaine.

Charmaine and Paolo had a day they'll never forget. While planning their getaway to the Adirondacks he realized it would also be the anniversary of the day they met. Paolo already knew Charmaine was the love of his life and wanted to marry her. Mr. Romance decided this trip was the perfect time and place to propose.

He went to his jeweler and ordered a beautiful ring. He purchased a moleskine notebook, carved a hole in it, and hid the ring inside. He told Charmaine it was an 'adventure notebook' so they could start documenting their trips together.

They starting at Adirondack Loj, hiked through the Van Hoevenberg Trail via the dam and summited Mount Marcy around 4pm. Then he said to Charmaine:

"here's the adventure book, you want to see our first adventure?" She opened the notebook and saw the ring first. She didnt even get to read the message inside that asked me to marry her. She said yes anyway.

Congrats to the happy couple.
