Could New York see snow this weekend? National Weather Service meteorologist Bob Hamilton tells Syracuse.com 'We're definitely in lake snow season.'

Lake effect snow is creeping into some forecasts in Wayne and Northern Cayuga Counties. The cold front moving in this weekend over Lake Ontario mixing and Hurricane Matthew rolling up the coast, it could be cold enough to see some lake effect snow Sunday morning.

It's not unusual for snow this time of year. 10 years ago on October 13, 2006, Buffalo got hammered with 2 feet of snow, killing 3 people. Just last October, 18th to be exact, Oswego County had 9 inches of lake effect snow.

Time will tell as we get closer to the weekend. One thing we know in Central New York is the weather is constantly changing. Sometimes very quickly.
