Cooperstown Lodging At A Premium For This Weekends Hall of Fame Ceremonies

If you are a baseball fan one of the benefits of living in Central New York is not having to worry about accommodations for one of the National Baseball Hall of Fame’s special events. Such is not the case for out of town visitors to this weekend’s Hall of Fame Ron Santo and Barry Larkin induction ceremonies. The Daily Star reports that available rooms in Cooperstown are all but nonexistent. What are the options for those making last minute plans?
Bob Ghegan, manager of LakeView Motel and Marina in Cooperstown, said he will continue to direct callers to the Cooperstown Chamber of Commerce for help. Visitors likely will have to go to Sharon Springs, Richfield Springs, Oneonta and other outlying communities to find accommodations.
This years inductees are Barry Larkin, longtime shortstop for the Cincinnati Reds and the late Ron Santo, slugging third baseman of the Chicago Cubs. The induction ceremonies will be Sunday at 1:30 at the Hall of Fame.
